- Disciplehood is a phenomina common
in the east. This happens when someone is drawn
towards a spiritual master and the master agrees
to pass on or transmit transformational wisdom
and energy to the seeker. The formal
acknowledgment of this will take place as the
seeker is initiated by the Master. This
initiation can take different forms according to
the Master. Jesus was initiated by John the
Baptist through Baptism; Buddhist monks were
initiated by Buddha through shaving the head
& donning saffron robes; disciples are
initiated by Osho by receiving a new name and a
necklace of wooden beads with Osho's photo in a
locket.

- The temples of Khajuraho which are
located in Madhya Pradesh, India, were built
between the 9th & 12th centuries during the
Chandela dynasty. Many theories abound as to why
these temples depict sexual acts, as well as
carvings of other daily activities on their
walls. The theory which is relevant to Tantra
exploration is, that an adept of the Tantric way
is to meditate on the carvings and upon arriving
at a state of consciousness is no longer being
enslaved by desires, they can then enter into the
inner emptiness of the temple. So instead of
running away from or suppressing desire, one is
to face the desire with full awareness and in
this way move into expanded consciousness.

- Tantra is a word that holds many
interpretations. In essence it means
transformation and can be linked to the concept
of alchemy, where it is rumored that the ancient
alchemists worked through a process with base
metals, transforming them into gold.
Tantra is the alchemy of transforming
any mundane aspect of life into its divine
potential. Throughout the ages Tantra has been
linked with sex because the Tantricas unlike many
other groups, do not abstain from sex in order to
enter the sacred, they rather use sex as a
"base metal" from which to create
"gold". Sexual intimacy is viewed as a
door leading to the temple of the ultimate
spiritual awakening. However Tantra is not
exclusively a sexual teaching. Every aspect of
our day to day life can be used as an opportunity
for spiritual awakening. Enter from any door in
life and you are entering the whole - eating,
walking, working, sleeping, procreation, birth
and death, all can be opportunities to open to
the transformation of the sprit. Nothing is
denied, nothing is considered as higher or lower.
All is divine.
The tradition of Tantra
teaching is mainly recorded in the East, India,
Nepal, Tibet, Japan and China all have their
Tantra scriptures. However refined it may have
become in the East, it is a universal concept
which has been experimented with in all parts of
the world at different times. It is the natural
path for human beings everywhere, and can be
easily reclaimed where ever it has been
forgotten.
