We have just discovered that our musician, sarod player and composer
Chinmaya Dunster,
has produced a film called Concert for India's Environment. Many of us know (with pride) that he was invited to play at Sir Paul McCartney's
wedding in Ireland after Paul had bought and fallen in love with his CD
Celtic Ragas.
A few years later, in 2004, with the same band, he staged a concert to inaugurate the new auditorium at Bharati Vidyapeeth Institute of Environmental Education and Research (BVIEER) in Pune and to help raise awareness for the cause of conservation in India. The concert was filmed and more footage of nature by Svargo and Chinmaya and of interviews by Zeenat and Avesh were added to create the documentary in its present form.
Chinmaya says: "This film was made entirely budget-free. Everyone involved in both the concert and the film project gave their time and skills without payment. It is also available for free. It is an expression of love and gratitude for our planet, the natural world and its denizens, both human and animal.
"Lastly, a word about sharing: I learned from my master Osho, that the spiritual law of sharing is very different from the economic one. In economics the more you give away the less you have. But with love and energy, the more you share, the more you get!"
The music of the concert is out under the title of: Fragrance of the East
(www.newearthrecords.com).
You can see the 6 parts of the film on Omkar's website here and read what Chinmaya wrote about his project.
