Aware ... Awareness the essence of meditation, of transformation. Tuning in can lead to meditation because the main ingredient for tuning in is also awareness. Osho described it once like this: If you tune into your mind, you usually find thoughts racing along like the traffic racing along a busy street. Awareness, or watching, means you sit by the side of the road and watch the thoughts without becoming involved with them. Just by this simple process the traffic slows down and thoughts become less until the mind is quiet.

Brain waves ... The human brain gives off different vibrations depending on what activity is happening there, and how relaxed or active the person is. These vibrations are called brain waves, and are like finger prints of the activity in the brain. Each kind of block or problem experienced in the body or the mind also has it's corresponding identifiable finger print, or brain wave. In Lightpuncture the brain waves can be used to alter experience of pain or tension, by stimulating certain points on the body which affect the brain waves.

Esogetic ... A word coined by Peter Mandel to describe the foundation of his color work. It comes from the two words esoteric and energetic . The work is a synthesis between the scientific material Western approach to understanding the body and the Eastern intuitive approach. This is the type of union Bill Moyers talked about in his series "Healing and the Mind," where the West can benefit from the East's totally different approach to health and the body.

Intuition ... Intuition is the inner knowing, or knowing without external proof, of what will be good for us as an individual. Intuition is an impulse towards good, not in a moral sense, but in the sense that we will benefit from the effects of following the impulse. In that way intuition is amoral. Morality is a predecided set of behavioral standards, whereas intuition is a spontaneous response, unpremeditated. It is always in the present, it never comes from the past.

Kirlian Photography ... Semjon Kirlian, a Soviet scientist, invented a method in which the bioenergetic emission of the hands and feet can be made visible and photographed in a harmless high-frequency field.

Using the old Chinese system of meridians as well as the findings of the electro-acupuncturist Dr. Voll, Peter Mandel established an organ topography for the Kirlian photos. Direct information about weakened parts of the organ system can be deduced with the help of energetic phenomena appearing in photographs of the individual. It is the most refined, and tested, system of analysis of Kirlian photography available.
