Ch'i
- Energy, life-force. Perceived as being present in
everything.
Geomancy
- The art of interpreting the earth and its
landscape; "Feng Shui" in Chinese.
Lung mei
- Paths of ch'i in the earth; dragon lines;
"Ley lines" in the West.
Sha
- The life-taking breath"; destructive,
unhealthy ch'i - often encouraged by straight
lines, stagnant water and untidiness.
Water divining
- The skill of searching for water using intuition,
externalised by carrying two metal rods or a
forked branch, usually hazel. Also known as
dowsing. Water divining is used more often than
is officially recognised. Building contractors
and farmers often employ a dowser to search for
hidden water or pipes in the earth. Dowsers often
extend their activities to search for dragon
lines (see Lung mei).
